About the Role
The appointee will join a team of Consultants, Specialty Doctors, GPSI and Specialist Nurses to provide dermatology services to the hospitals and local community.
The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Lead of Dermatology and the Clinical Director of Medical Specialties.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The appointee is responsible for maintaining their professional development and to work towards continuous professional improvement in line with service needs and changes in Medical practice.
- The post holder will participate in local CPD by joining colleagues at Salford Royal Hospital For dermatology clinical meetings twice a month and will be able to bring their own cases for Review by consultant colleagues.
- The post holder will work in partnership with the other dermatologists to provide the general service across all four sites.
- The consultant will assist service development in dermatology with particular reference to GPSI and specialist nurse services which may in future be provided at additional locations.
- Management of the existing workload may change during the job and will be reflected in the job plan as necessary.
- A typical full time job plan is 10 Pas which will include; Direct Clinical Care:
- Outpatient clinics
- Outpatient procedures
- Attendance at MDT skin cancer meetings
- Support for GPSI and Specialist nurse activities
- Supervision of Specialty registrar
- Ward consultations which may involve cover for Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford
- General Hospital or Manchester Royal Infirmary
- Patient administration
- Clinical meeting at SRFT
- Directorate Meetings
Supporting Professional Activities: Training, Teaching
Requirements
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of Obtaining a CSST in Dermatology
- MB BS or equivalent.
- Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
- MRCP or equivalent
- Certificate of completion of Specialist training (CCST) in Dermatology
- Interest in teaching Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical staff As well as other healthcare Workers
- Ability to communicate and Liaise effectively with patients And their relatives, and with Other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work as a team with Professional colleagues, both Medical and other Disciplines
- Car owner with full driving license
- Agreement to live within 10 Road miles of the hospitals Served, or to have access by Motorway in the equivalent Period of traveling time
- An understanding of the NHS management responsibilities of consultants. Experience of clinical audit.
- Evidence of recent and current research, with relevant publications.
- Ability to work and make patient management decisions on own initiative, whilst seeking appropriate guidance from colleagues when required.
