Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship for International Students, China -2024/2025

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024/2025 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, specifically for international students interested in pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate program at Zhejiang Normal University, China. The Scholarship is available to students pursuing Doctoral program, Master’s Program, Undergraduate program, One Academic Year Program and One Semester Program at the University.

For the purpose of satisfying the growing demand of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) will continue with the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the
Scholarship). Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad (hereinafter collectively referred to as “recommending institutions”) may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers for the study of International Chinese Language Education or related majors at Chinese universities and colleges (hereinafter referred to as “host institutions”).

Established in 1956, Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) is situated across two campuses within Zhejiang Province, China. The primary campus is situated in the Jinhua-Yiwu Metropolitan area, which is one of the four major metropolitan areas in the province of Zhejiang. Jinhua offers excellent transportation connectivity, with a high-speed rail journey of just 40 minutes to Hangzhou and 100 minutes to Shanghai. Additionally, ZJNU has a branch campus in Hangzhou, the provincial capital, which boasts a lush and picturesque environment, making it an ideal place for living, learning, and working.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

In order to be eligible for the International Chinese Language Teachers scholarship, candidates must meet the following:

  1. Should be non-Chinese citizens
  2. Be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school
  3. Be good physical and mental conditions
  4. Have good records of academic performance and conduct
  5. Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields
  6. Aged between16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2023), with the special allowance for the age limit of 45 for applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers and that of 25 for undergraduate student applicants.

SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS

For Doctoral Program

  • Must be 16-35 years of age
  • Hold a Master’s degree in teaching Chinese as a foreign   language, linguistics, international Chinese language education, or education-related   disciplines
  • Have a minimum score of 200 on the HSK Test (Level 6) and 60 on the HSKK test (Advanced Level). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide an employment contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or proof to the same effect

For Master’s Program

  • Must be 16-35 years of age
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree, and have   a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).
  • Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution or relevant proof upon completing their studies in China.

For Undergraduate Program

  • Must be 16-35 years of age
  • Hold a high school diploma and a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

For One Semester Program

  • Must be 16-35 years of age
  • HSK (Level 3) -180
  • HSKK test score is required

Benefits of the Scholarship

The scholarship will provide funding for the entire standard program duration, provided that the scholarship recipient maintains a consistently strong academic record and demonstrates exemplary behavior.

  1. Covers tuition fee
  2. Accommodation fee
  3. Comprehensive medical insurance.
  4. 2500 yuan monthly stipend for undergraduate students, one-year academic students and one semester students
  5. 3000 yuan monthly stipends for Master

NOTE

Confucius Institute students should register on time according to the admission notice, otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled. Students who register before September 15 (including September 15) can get the whole month’s living allowance, and students who register after September 15 can only get half of the living allowance for this month.

How to Apply for the Scholarship

Applicants are required to submit their applications via Confucius Institute Scholarship website. Candidates should ensure the online form is properly filled and submitted. Applications will not be processed if insufficient information is provided.

NOTE

  • Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed
  • Applicants will be disqualified from the application in case of fraudulent application materials or application materials are completed and submitted by someone else
  • Scholarship winners who cannot register with the host institutions on time should inform the host institution about the reasons in written form within 15 days before the admission date. For those who do not register as requested without reason, the scholarship will be canceled.
  • Scholarship will be canceled for those who do not pass the admission physical examination, drop out, or take schooling suspension during the study.
